The other day I was listening to a podcast talking about doing new things and taking risks and why it is sometimes the best thing you can do. I've not necessarily been one to shy away from doing new things, but usually I try new things that I think I'll be good at and during this podcast episode, they were actually speaking to why you should do things that you are not good at. My first thought was, "Why in the world would you try something that you know you are not good at?" They argued that people often don't try new things that they think they are not good at, but when you do try new things you are bad at, it ends up being a good thing because it might still be something you are not good at, but you might find enjoyment from it.
So it got me thinking; I tried pickleball for the first time recently. I wasn't good at it, but it was fun. I enjoyed it; I played it with my son. He taught me how to play and well, we had fun. I could have not tried it, and kept the mindset of I'm not good at it, but I didn't.
Think about all the things that maybe you haven't gave a go because you told yourself, "I am bad at that," and now go do them or try one of them and see how it goes; it might be the best thing you can do.
My son has started a new thing, racing his e-bike. This was only his second race and I think he did pretty well. Cheers to trying new things. Live with adventure.
